There are rumored to be 12 variations in total, but these are the basic ones.

In the past with Windows XP they had two versions. Home/Professional.

Professional was for Business.

Lets See if I can extrapolate who each version is targeted at.

Starter=Developing Countries or really cheap budget machines £250 (ish)

Home Basic=Your Parents

Home Premium=People who like digital media like music/pictures etc.

Ultimate=IT Pro’s and Hardcore Gamers

Pro Standard=Typical Office User.

I still think this is an artificial divide and the old model of Home/Professional was good enough.

Vista’s Release Date is rumored to be as early as next July.

The public Beta is December 16th.
