When a Windows Vista Demo Go Wrong Monday, July 31st, 2006
A Windows Vista demo of the new Speech software goes very, very wrong.
A Windows Vista demo of the new Speech software goes very, very wrong.

I am responsible for 200 computers in 20 odd locations.
The default behaviour of these sites is to using Automatic Windows Update for the latest security fixes on Patch Tuesday.
Now Microsoft are bypassing me and going straight to my end users and offering to install a new Internet Browser (I.E7)
In most cases everything will be fine, but when it goes wrong I will be the one who has to fix it.

DEAR MICROSOFT,
ARE YOU GOING TO HELP ME FIX 200 DAMAGED WINDOWS INSTALLS IN A SINGLE DAY IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG?
I’M GUESSING THE ANSWERS NO.
//Rant Mode off.
Security Updates, Yes I agree, but forcing new Software No Thanks.
Boy those old codgers who created the specification for e-mail never saw this one coming.

Now the frightening thing about this post from Jensen Harris, one of UI team at Microsoft is
One of the projects our design team has been working on for the last year or so has been the development of a new suite of product icons for Office 2007.
The design team has been working on these icons for quite a long time
What madness is this. Just exactly how long does it take to make an new Icon for Word.

After being annoyed with Symantec yesterday I thought I would try out an Alternative to Symantec’s Norton AntiVirus.
We choose Norton AntiVirus Corperate on big sites, but still have to use the Norton AntiVirus 200x for smaller sites.
So I chose to give Nod32 a Go. Lets see if I survive the 30 day trial period.
