Is this the future of keyboard input? Thursday, January 11th, 2007

It looks like an RSI (repetitive strain injury) nightmare waiting to happen, but the fact of the matter in we only have traditional separate keyboards because 20 years ago it was the only practical way to get the job done.

I think one way or another the traditional keyboards days are numbered. If speech recognition doesn’t do it I am sure the keyboard with morph into the computing device (pretty much as pictured above).

I have a Windows Media Center in my home but very rarely do I need to use the keyboard to type stuff in. An example of when I would would be to create a folder to store some data. But even then If its relatively short I would prefer to fire up the windows on screen keyboard and do my typing by mouse click.

You can find on-screen keyboard in Start > Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On-Screen Keyboard.

10 years from now I just cant see why we are actually going to need the traditional physical keyboard.
