Windows Vista - Observations
Problem Software
Apple iTunes: Apple say to wait for the next version
WS-FTP Pro 2006: My FTP Client, This wont install at all so I am using the free FileZilla from (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/)
DeskShare’s: My Screen Recorder Pro: The website says it supports Vista, but I get major screen corruption and the video is unusable. This is possibly Video Card Driver Related.
Problem Hardware
As I posted yesterday some Video/Monitor Issues.

Windows Vista loves memory. It could possibly just grabbing more than it needs because it can. But Windows XP used to idle at 160mb to 250mb of ram usage. Window Vista after a days use sits at 1169mb. Big Difference.
Battery
Due to the eye candy on offer and using the video card much more the Battery life seems to suffer quite a bit.Â
General
The filing system seems a bit complicated. Instead I have reverted to using the search to find what I need. Thankfully search works really well and is fast.

Colin,
Nice site!!
it is worth asking how much memory you have on the system. Vista should optimise the memory usage. On my 1GB machine, if I don’t load the sidebar or fancy graphics I sit at about 1/2GB of RAM, and quite a bit of that is disk cache. Having unused ram is not efficient - better that it is caching things than “empty”. Windows will ideally optimise to all ram used and then slide the amount that is cached and then used by programs as pressure is applied.
Also, I have a document index of 140,000 documents and mails, which is loaded by Vista, so I sort of expect the extra memory usage by this alone.

Hi David
Thanks for the compliment.
I have 2gig of ram in this machine.
I doesnt feel like the system is under any strain, It seems to come and go but its never any less than 700mb I have a few things running like Antivirus/Indexing/Full Aero etc
Apart from App Compat (I miss iTunes) I am really enjoying Vista.
