iPod cannot be updated error -50 Thursday, March 1st, 2007

A client had some audio recorded onto an iPod using a Griffin iTalk.

Now sometimes when an iPod battery gets low it can have problems saving an audio recording and the file can get corrupted.

I was stuck in a catch 22, the audio file would not re-import in iTunes (it was corrupt).

I could not copy via Windows Explorer either you get a “The parameter is not correct”

However you could listen to the audio file on the iPod.

So being swifty I imported the damaged audio .wav file using Audacity (a sound file editor) and exported back out as a .wav on to a PC as a new audio file.

The final step being to delete the orignal corrupted file - Job done.
