I made it onto the Joost Super Special Beta Group

This allows me to test out version 0.9 of Joost.

It has some nice new features like being able to invite friends from inside the Joost client software.

I have an issue with the installer yet again. It says my super hi-spec Dell XPS M1210 laptop “may not have enough resources.”

But you can see from the screen shot below it vastly exceeds the requirements.

The problem area seems to be the DirectX version. Windows Vista is DirectX10 and not 9.0C as shown in the above picture.

Anyway version 0.9 is installed and working fine.

I have created a couple of Joost ScreenCasts but I am waiting to hear back from Joost if I am allowed to publish them. If so check back later this week.

    If you get some of those invites I’d love to check it out! I’ve been trying to find one for the longest time, but always end up coming around too late!

    Hi Andy

    Yup, Joost is a pretty good first stab at a real IPTV platform.

    If they get some quality programming it’s going to be killer.

    I checked about an hour ago and the “invites” section of the new client software isnt active yet. (They told us about this).

    So as and when it kicks in Ill try an help out people who leave comments.

    I have allocated the 5 tokens I have on my account for people on this list or who have e-mailed me.

    Althought I have tokens I cant use them in this part of the Beta (yet).

    I see you’re running Windows Media Center. How does the Joost look on a 10 ft interface? can you navigate easily with
    the remote?

    Hi Mike

    The further you are away from joost the better it looks.

    So the 10ft experience is very good.

    As for the remote control it supports some of the basic features like changing channel but can get caught out with popups confirming your age based on the content your viewing. So yes and no really.

    If anyone reading this can give mike an invite.
