Do you backup? No Really I mean it!
These can come in handy.
I just had a call from a Client whose laptop was stolen, naturally this is bad news.
In this instance the loss of the equipment is a setback, however the user backed up their data to one of these Iomega external usb hard disks (on my recommendation).

I also have access to replacement equipment that can be deployed next business day, so from my user’s perspective this horrible experience can be made as painless as possible.
So what can be learned?
1) Backup (No Really I mean it!)
2) Make sure your I.T support partner is capably of providing a rapid solution to your problem. One Business day of inconvenience is a good metric to work to.
3) In addition to bringing the user back online very quickly it’s important that you dont forget to focus in on securing the users previous credentials. Example:
Assessing what data may be exposed and changing User credentials like passwords (particularly for remote access/wireless and internet services).
