How much do I hate USB 1.0? Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I forgot just how slow USB 1.0 is.

I had to copy about 1.7gb of data from an old Windows 2000 machine to an external Hard Disk.

It took 25 mins to copy off from a USB 1.0 Computer and about 2 mins to copy back onto the new machine with USB 2.0.

Retrospectively I should had copied this data over a network connection.

But it has been so long since I have encountered a PC with USB 1.0 I forgot just how slow the transfer speeds are.
