So no you can’t assume that a SCSI device is automatically compatible you need to make sure you have the correct SCSI pin connection (50, 68 or 80) on your cable/motherboard.
50 is the older variation
68 is the most common
80 is the newer type (aka SCA)

I was in a mad rush to order a new SCSI 320 hard disk and ordered the wrong one by mistake. So hopefully this quick post will help other avoid that mistake. Get the pin type first.
