I am working with a new client. This client is a small business with 4 PC’s and a Server.
The business is just a bunch of young guys and they all chose what laptop they wanted prior to me being involved.
Two of them got Sony Vaio laptops, one got a Dell Inspiron 640m and the last PC is a Dell Dimension desktop PC.
Now they are having problems with the Inspiron 640m, the USB no longer works and it is also slow running Vista with 1gb of ram.
I overheard a conversation “I told him to get a Sony, Dell are rubbish”
Based on the user experience of the Dell Inspiron 640m limping along on Vista I have to agree.
Now the real problem is they are comparing apples to oranges. The Dell inspiron would have been considerably cheaper than the Sony and really the Dell Inspiron is a bad choice for a business user.
Inspirons are Ideal for a casual user like a parent who does five e-mails a week but not in a busy offices being used 8 hours a day.
Tip: If you are a business user looking for a Dell, don’t buy Dell Inspiron or Dell Vostro buy a Dell Latitude D series either D430, D63x or D830 with a decent specification. If you need help choosing then drop me an e-mail.
So my point being once again cheap low end Dell equipment gives customers the wrong impression of the Dell brand.
