The funny things people put into Google to get here

If you come to this Website from a Google search the phrase you used on Google gets stored in my web logs for me to chuckle over later.

Sometimes I read these search phrases and go “What….”

Some samples:-

“bbc iplayer windows server 2003″

Colin Says: Please step away from the Server. Quick someone change the Administrator password.

“t68 windows 5.0 mobile phone”

Colin Says: Sounds like Austin Powers needs a phone upgrade but a T68 is not a candidate for Windows Mobile 5.0.

“small computer consultants”

Colin Says: Who you calling small?

“dell vostro ugly”

Colin Says: I told you so. (Any site visitors called Gary who actually owns a Vostro, should write a review about it, Go on please, as you know I’m never buying one).

“blogging is boring”

Colin Says: Suddenly everybody is a critic.

“bsod dell vostro”

Colin Says: Nah Nah

“waste consultant”

Colin Says: Mmmm

On a semi serious note I am positive most people don’t know how to perform a search on Google properly and people get by using trial and error.

If you think about it searching is something that people don’t teach each other. Everyone just assumes you know how to do it.

When I get my screencasting hat back on I will do some Entry level “How to use Google’”.

I seem to fit into that criteria. :-) And since I don’t have my own blog you can have an exclusive review here. ;-)

NANO REVIEW OF DELL VOSTRO 200ST
Dirt cheap box that does what it says on the tin. The slim tower version is very compact, quiet, and looks good with its piano black side panels. The power to price ratio is extremely high. I paid £189 + delivery + vat for a dual core E4400 with 2Gb RAM and Windows XP Pro. It could have been at least £50 cheaper if they provided a Linux or a no-OS option (I have some spare legal Windows licenses).

Well done to Dell for producing a very decent bargain and allowing business customers to choose XP rather than Vista. My only criticism is the delivery charge at £60 which is an absurd amount to pay. (Yes, I know this is done on purpose to make the product itself look cheaper, but Dell shouldn’t take us for idiots)

Would I buy another Vostro? Not as a main PC for myself as I’m a heavy duty power user, but yes, as a second PC or for an employee it’s perfect. Only time will tell with regards to reliability, but so far cheap is very cheerful.

    Thanks Gary

Dual Core for £249 Delivered is a great price. I agree high delivery costs leave a bitter taste.

When I asked Dell how to position Vostro/Optiplex they said pretty much the same.

    Vostro = light use.

Maybe I am too harsh on Vostro but I am not going to supply/support them to find out the hard way.

I have to support Dell Optiplex’s into their old age and even that is a bit touch and go at times.
