Windows Vista Media Player 11 Doesn’t Open Properly
Sometimes when I click on either an audio or video file that is associated with Windows Media Player 11 nothing seems to happen, The player doesn’t open for example.
However I can hear the audio from the content but I cannot see or switch to the Windows Media player application.
Tip: The only work around I can find is Control-Alt-Delete and look at the Task Manager see if the wmplayer.exe is running. If so end it and start over, it works second time for me.

So strange… I read this yesterday and thought, “huh, I haven’t noticed this on either of my Vista machines.” This morning however, my desktop experienced the same or similar problem. I clicked a link for video and nothing visually opened, but i could hear the audio playing. So, I clicked the Windows Media Player icon with is in my QuickLaunch bar, and the video appeared. Weird.
Colin, have you been noticing this for awhile now, or is it possible that some error was bundled into all those Vista updates realeased a day or two ago?

Hi Terry
I thought initially it might have to do with multi monitor support and the player was off on another display that wasn’t actually present. Mmmm not sure.
It might be focus related but I couldn’t alt-tab to it in my case.
I got some updates today, the first in a few weeks, if it happens again I will try and track it down.
