It's strange to think that Microsoft didn't have the resources to throw even 1 member of staff at providing Ultimate extras. They could have got someone to create exclusive desktop wallpaper, icons, mouse pointers, Windows sounds, etc, very easily for a negligible cost. Or some neat widgets. They don't need to take valuable programmers away from the SP1 team to come up with something, *anything*, to make Ultimate customers think they haven't been totally neglected.

I'm sure 1000's of talented people in the world would have loved the job, all for a very modest salary. So after SP1 is released we should expect some worthwhile Ultimate-only appps to appear, right?

How about a disk defragmenter that's as informative as the one that came with Windows 98? It actually showed you what was going on, unlike Vista's that doesn't even tell you how far it's got! Or how about a Sound Recorder that lets you save in the WAV format and lets you boost the volume? It's amazing how they've removed basic functionality from Vista tools that Win98 and XP had as standard.
