Hi Gary

At the right price either of these would be great.

But in my eyes both are £250 too expensive and in this climate that’s put me right off.

You have the calm, cool headed logic of a Vulcan, Colin. ;-) First adopters of any new device always pay a premium so it's worth holding back for a good 6 months and not only will the price drop but any initial technical glitches should be ironed out by them.

I'm hoping Orange will give me an upgrade to the Diamond for under £100. How so? If you resist the compulsion to upgrade your phone (on contract) every year then this counts in your favour and the discount they give you on your next phone increases each year.

They Diamond may be a GUI on top of a GUI but if it hides the horrible Windows interface then it has to be a good thing, providing it doesn't take you through one layer of menus and suddenly dumps you back into the Windows GUI. I think HTC's first attempt at a new interface did just that and totally defeated the object of a single-finger operated GUI. I mean, you can't use a Windows phone easily while walking down the street.
